Sam + Chris's Summer Engagement in Shawano Wisconsin
Sam and Chris had been together for seven years and when they reached out to us they were really looking for someone who captures snapshots of moments that you don't know are being captured. They really love candid pictures and they loved the realness in our photography. Sam was actually crossing her fingers with all of her might, that we would be available to work with them and we are equally thrilled to say ‘Yes’!
Sam and Chris are what we would call soulmates! They are so great together and have a really great relationship. No matter what comes their way, they stand together through thick and thin and have really grown together. It’s just so evident through how deep their love is for one another, how much they appreciate each other and the fact that they call each other their person.
So this engagement session was really a celebration of their relationship and everything they have supported one another through and getting to celebrate this next chapter in their life. They knew that they wanted to have their engagement session at Sam's family cottage on Shawano Lake. The cottage is really special to Sam's family because they built it after Sam's dad had a health scare, and they realized just how short and precious life was. So the family built a really beautiful space for their families to enjoy and spend time together. Coming to the cabin for their session also allowed them to include their pup Nola, who is so sweet! Nola is deaf, so together they learned and taught her sign language to be able to communicate with her. It was very clear how excited she was for her parents to get married and officially be husband and wife! Plus she was just thrilled to be part of the celebration as well.
We were gifted a beautiful summer day to celebrate Sam and Chris's engagement and their outfits were absolutely perfect like a lakefront chic, cute but casual which allowed them to sit on the dock with their dog and enjoy a beer with one another. They then switched to a more formal look at the very end of their session and even adventured into the water to splash around together, we love seeing that sense of adventure! It made for some great memories and photos!
Sam and Chris are both teachers, so you know how much heart and soul they put into their work, and anything they are passionate about. Spending time with them during their session we could really sense their love, and they love showing it to one another through laughter, affection, and dancing together. Chris custom-designed Sam's ring with the help of Sam's Mom.
Throughout the day we chatted about upcoming winter wedding plans, and how excited they were to see their vision unfold. Their winter wedding fit them to a tee, and we cannot wait to document it, and see all the magic they create!
