Maty & Adam's Uncomplicated and Intimate Wedding at Stone Harbor Resort in Sturgeon Bay

Two fun-loving humans, two beautiful families, one very loved pup, and one hell of a party, that was Maty & Adam’s wedding in nutshell.

The day started with Maty and Adam getting ready in their rooms at the Stone Harbor Resort. The two kept their day simple, uncomplicated, and intimate. They chose not to have a traditional wedding party and, instead, had their siblings as their maid of honor and best man. This was such a sweet way to be intentional with their time and energy. As they got ready with their families, they did their finishing touches and got ready for their first look. The first look wouldn’t have been complete without the love of their life, Walter. He is a handsome goldendoodle, full of spunk. He was so excited that his parents were getting hitched.

After the first look, Maty & Adam’s families were ready to knock out family photos. We took all of the family photos in front of their beautiful white rose arch. One of the things that really resonated with us was Maty and Adam’s vision they had for their wedding day. In addition to it be uncomplicated, they wanted it to feel natural and very intentional so they could spend time with their loved ones. After family photos, we swept Maty & Adam away to Sunset Beach for a few moments alone before the ceremony. We played, laughed, and kept it simple. The beach was such a fun moment for them to be authentically them.

We chatted non-stop for the quick ride to and from the beach, with The Lumineers radio on Spotify in the background. Maty is originally from Green Bay and Adam is from Chicago and Door County is a special place for them. Maty’s family has a home in Sturgeon Bay and, while the two now live in Denver now, they love to get back to the area and spend time there.

Natural and intentional wedding celebration

When we arrived back at Stone Harbor, Maty & Adam hid away until the ceremony while all of their guests gathered for a pre-ceremony cocktail hour (YES, PLEASE). With the different places they’ve explored, they naturally had friends and family travel in from all over the US. It was such a pleasure seeing friend groups, family members, and acquaintances re-connect over a cocktail in celebration for these two.

Up next was the ceremony and, yes, cocktails in hand were encouraged. The ceremony was short, sweet, and officiated by their close friend of many years, Patrick. You could feel the joy beaming from each word he shared about the couple. Maty had a detachable train that she added to her dress for the ceremony, this was just one of the many outfit changes the couple had planned for the day.

Post-ceremony was filled with a minute of just married photos overlooking the water and cocktail hour. Love and conversation filled Stone Harbor that night. Oh, and Adam’s epic jacket change before coming in for dinner!

Maty and Adam did a quick, simple cake cutting and then we snuck out for a few sunset photos. The two got to spend a few quiet moments together looking out over the water and the sun setting. This is my favorite moment of wedding days, a few minutes to breathe it all in and hold your new spouse close.

Then back to the dance floor! SoundFire DJ was serving up the jams and the dance floor was FULL. Between everyone dancing and the photo booth, there were many open chairs at the reception. We were able to capture some of Adam’s epic dance moves in the sea of people. That’s just when Maty snuck away to change into her next outfit of the day. Her outfit was a short, sequince dress complete with fringe and white cowboy boots. The perfect combination to dance the night away.

Hugs, goodbyes, and a few snaps more and we were on our way back home. It was such an honor to spend the day with Maty, Adam, and the loved ones they surrounded themselves with on their wedding day. We wish them the happiest life filled with adventures and puppies, and we hope to see them the next time we’re out west. Cheers!
