Amanda & Ken’s Dreamy Late Summer Wedding at Northern Haus in Door County
Amanda and Ken’s wedding day at Northern Haus is the kind of celebration that stays with you long after the last dance. Set in the charming fresh-coast town of Sister Bay, this late summer/early fall wedding was the perfect blend of refined details and playful, meaningful moments, which is exactly what we love to capture as Door County wedding photographers.
A Sunny Door County Wedding Morning
Amanda’s day began surrounded by her closest people, and so much love. She slipped into a stunning strapless Essence of Australia wedding gown that felt both timeless and effortlessly modern. Her bridesmaids complemented the look beautifully in soft, dusty blue dresses from Birdy Grey that added the dreamiest touch of color to the day. The sunshine poured in, the energy was high, and you could feel the anticipation building for everything to come.
First Looks Filled with Emotion (and a Little Fun)
One of our favorite parts of Amanda and Ken’s day? The series of first looks—each one uniquely special.
Amanda shared:
A sweet, emotional first look with her bridesmaids
A playful, laughter-filled first look with the groomsmen
The most adorable moment with their Westie, Rosie (truly a scene-stealer 🐾)
A heartfelt first look with her parents
And finally… the moment we had been waiting for. Amanda and Ken met beneath a sunlit tree tunnel near the forest cathedral at Northern Haus. As Amanda approached, Ken’s face lit up with the biggest smile. It was pure joy, and such a beautiful reminder of what the day is really about.
A Thoughtful Timeline for a Relaxed Celebration
Amanda and Ken made an intentional choice to complete most of their formal portraits before the ceremony. This allowed them to fully enjoy cocktail hour with their guests, something we always love to see and support! Their ceremony space, absolutely dripping in florals from Blossoms Flower House, doubled as the perfect backdrop for wedding party portraits. The lush arrangements and natural surroundings created a setting that felt both elevated and deeply connected to Door County’s beauty.
A Ceremony Full of Heart
As the guests gathered in the forest cathedral, the energy shifted into something even more meaningful. Ken stood at the altar, absolutely beaming, as Amanda walked down the aisle toward him. It was one of those moments where time seems to slow down. Every eye on was on them, and every heart fully present. They exchanged personal vows during the ceremony, sharing words that were heartfelt, intimate, and uniquely theirs. And when they sealed it all with their first kiss as husband and wife, the crowd erupted in cheers.
A Lively Cocktail Hour on the Lawn
Following the ceremony, guests made their way to the lawn for a vibrant cocktail hour. With drinks in hand, laughter in the air, and cornhole games in full swing, the celebration felt relaxed, joyful. Because Amanda and Ken had already taken care of most of their portraits, they were able to be fully present, hugging guests, clinking glasses, and soaking it all in.
An Elegant Late Summer Reception at Northern Haus
The reception space at Northern Haus was styled to perfection: think elegant late summer soirée with a soft, romantic twist.
Details we loved:
Wicker chargers adding texture and warmth
Peach-toned napkins for a subtle pop of color
Greenery vines draping throughout the space for an organic, airy feel
After an enthusiastic grand entrance, Amanda and Ken flowed right into their first dance to kick off the evening. Guests then enjoyed a delicious dinner from Crave Cuisine while listening to heartfelt toasts from their closest friends and family that were equal parts laughter, tears, and love.
Golden Hour Magic in Door County
As the sun began to dip, Amanda and Ken snuck away for golden hour portraits, and it was everything. Bathed in that signature Door County sunset glow, they danced beneath twinkle lights and soaked in a few quiet moments together as newlyweds. These are always some of our favorite images from the day; they’re romantic, relaxed, and give the couple a chance to breathe and ground themselves. Wedding days go by so quickly, and we feel it’s important to take time for yourselves and celebrate.
Dancing the Night Away
Back inside, Amanda and Ken shared sweet dances with their parents before opening up the dance floor, and from that moment on, the celebration was in full swing. From heartfelt moments to all-out dance floor energy, it was the perfect ending to a truly unforgettable day.
