Taylor + Jake's Cozy Fall Lifestyle Engagement Session

Taylor and Jake are loveable, bubbly, and sassy, which makes them all the more adorable. They have the cutest proposal story, which eventually led to me getting to photograph their engagement session:

Jake decided to propose one snowy afternoon up in Minocqua. Taylor was off shopping with some of her friends at the boutiques, so Jake got help from his friends to stage the moment. Jake and his buddies set up an archway with lights and greenery on the ice on Lake Minocqua. They set up a candle pathway with the letters that spelled “Marry Me” at the end. When they were ready, they gave the girls the OK to bring Taylor back from shopping. As the girls came around the last bend in the road, Taylor was quickly blindfolded in the back seat. Jake got down on one knee, and of course, Taylor said yes!

Taylor and Jake’s favorite dates are nights in bed watching Netflix, sushi dinner dates, and out-of-town getaway weekends exploring new towns. They’re laid-back, adventurous, and partners-in-crime. One of the things they really appreciate about their relationship is that they are able to openly communicate about everything. They wanted to craft an engagement session that reflected how they like to spend their time together, and it absolutely HAD to include their dog, Odin!

We started their session with an in-home location where they snuggled on the couch, played cribbage, and drank wine together. These two can make each other laugh at a moment’s notice, which made for some adorable photos. They were both a little nervous going into their engagement session, but that’s nothing a little laughter and red wine can’t fix! 😉

Their golden retriever, Odin, joined us at Baird’s Creek, and what a ham he was! Talk about the goodest boy ever, he was such a sweetie and somewhat willingly held the cute sign Taylor had bought for him. The fall colors were on point, Bairds Creek never disappoints for an engagement session. This spot is perfect for couples who want to include their furry friend in their session because dogs are totally welcome!

When I asked Taylor and Jake what they are most passionate about in life, they said, “Spending the most time possible doing what we love and what we actually want to do. We believe in a good work & life balance. Love to travel together and explore everything we can to make the most of our lives.” I think that’s a sentiment everyone could get behind!

Taylor and Jake are planning an epic fall wedding at the Black Sheep Weddings and Events center (Taylor’s mom and stepdad own the venue, so you KNOW it’s going to be a good time!) and we cannot wait to document every juicy moment. Stay tuned for the next chapter of their story!

Cheers,

Kate
