Kaitlin + Tim's Magical Harry Potter Inspired Wedding in Door County

Kaitlin and Tim had a very specific vision when it came to their wedding planning. They were intentional about the locations they chose, the vendors they worked with, and the theme of their wedding. The pandemic threw their plans up in the air a bit, but when they landed, it was absolutely magical (pun intended).

Kaitlin and Tim’s story began in Door County, so it was natural for them to return to celebrate their wedding. Kaitlin was a little nervous as she was getting ready. She was an absolute goddess in her stunning wedding dress, complete with added bejeweled cape sleeves. Tim seemed cool and collected as he dressed before their First Look, but when he turned around and saw Kaitlin for the first time, you could see the emotion crossing his face.

Kaitlin and Tim chose the Donald and Carol Kress Pavilion as their wedding venue because it allowed them to host their ceremony and reception in one space, and it provided a beautiful view of Door County. The space was decorated with awesome details that their Potterhead photographer was obsessed with. They had four different flavored wedding cakes, all designed by Kaitlin’s dear friend and decorated as the four Hogwarts houses. Kaitlin and Tim identify as Ravenclaws, so their attire and florals had blue details included.

Both of their families are incredibly loving and welcoming; they all were so excited for this day to finally be here, when Kaitlin and Tim would officially join their families. Happy tears were shed during their ceremony as Tim’s dad officiated. The couple took their family photos before the ceremony so that the post-ceremony festivities would flow exactly how they wanted. Remember, when you’re planning your wedding, you can create your timeline to be whatever you desire!

Between their ceremony and reception, Kaitlin and Tim snuck away for some photos at Egg Harbor beach, their favorite beach in Door County. Mother Nature kept surprising us with random sprinkles and rain showers, but this made for absolutely gorgeous, gooey lighting during their couple’s photos. For any couples that are disappointed by overcast/stormy skies on their wedding day, I PROMISE you it often turns into some incredible photos!

The newlyweds got to mingle with all of their guests during their reception. Since the pandemic forced them to have an intimate guest list, it allowed them to be really intentional about how they spent their time on their wedding day. That meant having plenty of space to connect with those nearest and dearest to them. Wild Tomato Pizza provided a delicious pizza buffet (a must-stop for anyone visiting Door County!), and toasts were shared to celebrate the couple, complete with Butterbeer as a drink option. Staying true to their theme, their marriage license was signed with a feather quill.

Kaitlin and Tim asked their guests to dress in the Hogwarts house colors (blue, green, yellow, and red) so they could take a group photo with each “house”. The Ravenclaws showed up in full force, much to the delight of the couple. To close out their photos, Kaitlin and Tim invited all their guests outside for sparkler photos, which symbolized magic wands and turned out fabulously.

Kaitlin and Tim, we’re so grateful that you chose us to document your wedding journey. Your love story is beautiful, your partnership is steadfast, and we know that you two will make it through anything that comes your way. Cheers to the two of you.

Mischief managed,

Kate
